Above, St. Theresa School, brand new out of the ground in 1993, O’Brien & Keane’s first project of many for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. Phase IV completed the project, which featured a new entrance, flexible meeting rooms, offices and an Adoration Chapel.

Common Area Renovation
SSSAS enjoys a whole new look and feel with the complete replacement of all interior finishes in the common areas and an entrance addition. Work included flooring, ceilings, drywalling and paint, and the creation of new hangout spaces.

“Early Saints” Learning Center
The first floor of Sinclair Hall was gutted and retrofitted to follow suit with the design vocabulary and materials palate developed in collaboration with SSSAS. Kid-friendly and flexible, the new facility welcomes the young students into academia.

Portico Replacement
Tasked with the design of a new portico, OB&K responded with classical detailing that underscores the institution’s heritage and emphasizes the dignity of the learning environment within.

Classroom Additions
Permanent prefabricated classroom modules answered the question of how the project could get completed over the summer recess. The high performance LEED-silver equivalent design included phenolic rainscreen panels.

Nursing and Physics Labs
OB&K provided complete interior design and A/E services in collaboration with CUA to deliver these two new lab spaces for the school, including all new finishes, furniture, and technology infrastructure.

Faculty Room
Following an HVAC replacement project, OB&K had the opportunity to transform the old boiler room into a flexible and productive place for the teachers. The space offers accommodations for dining, meeting, collaboration, individual work, mail, and a sound-isolated phone booth for sensitive calls.

Privileged with the opportunity to design a library to house the school’s rich collection classic and contemporary resources, OB&K answered with clean lines, materials and colors found in nature, and the optimization of natural daylight.

The foundation and basement of an underutilized cottage on site was repurposed to offer valuable workshop space for the men and women that keep the place looking good and running well.

Head of School Residence Renovation and Addition
This family home is also the scene of many important school events that the family hosts, however, the existing layout didn’t provide the flexibility and space needed. OB&K prepared the designs for a main floor remodeling, with new entrance and veranda additions and fresh exterior materials.

Modular movable furniture enables recruitment teams the flexibility to set up the space as they wish, while at the same time, the school can showcase the students’ art projects along the gallery.
