In 2001, the Catholic Diocese of
Arlington launched an initiative to construct two new high schools, and
turned to O'Brien and Keane to assist with the Land Use Planning for both
Projects. After the preparation of the initial site plan by the
Architect, and the successful land use amendment process culminated in the
approval by both County governments (Loudoun County and Prince William
County), O'Brien and Keane was selected as the Architect to see the Loudoun
County project through to completion.
The hub of the 1500 student school
will be a three-story atrium which features the chapel as a focal element.
In addition to the academic wings radiating from this hub, the
interconnected athletic and fine arts centers are designed to function to
allow for a flexible schedule, independent from the school day.
